The Mind/Soul, Body, Spirit Connection...
Our Unique Approach to Psychiatric Treatment
Picture

We are an outpatient practice.
We are not a hospital or an acute care facility.
We only offer virtual appointments.
We do not see patients in-person in our office, only through telemedicine.

Mind / Soul

The word "psuche" is Greek for soul, which is where "psych" in psychology and psychiatry is derived.   Psychotherapy is considered therapy for the soul, and psychiatry is the diagnosis and treatment of soul disorders.

We address psychological, behavioral and soul issues by using effective, scientifically-proven, evidence-based techniques by using a Christian perspective based on Biblical principles.

We view psychotherapy as the "surgery" of mental health treatment.  It allows us to locate and uproot the unresolved issues that have been preventing healing, freedom and total redemption!

Our psychotherapy involves a You (our patient), Me (The Fort Christian Psychiatric Center), and God approach.  Each of these 3 parts plays a very important and distinct role in the treatment process. Our patients are taught that unless they fully commit to doing their part, surrender total control to God, and allow us to do our part, then therapy won't work.  But, if they will do it, then the transformative healing process can take full effect and they can overcome fear!
A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.  Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

Body

We address the physical and physiological manifestations of psychiatric disorders with medication and proven evidence-based therapy from a Christian perspective.  Medication is used in order to stabilize symptoms, allowing us to get to the root of the problem with Christian-centered therapy.

We encourage our patients to adopt a healthy life-style: balanced diet, adequate sleep, sufficient physical exercise, limited consumption of alcohol and caffeine, and to completely abstain from illegal drugs (including marijuana).  We educate our patients on how unresolved emotional, psychological and spiritual issues negatively impact the physical body, and the steps to take to prevent it.
We routinely collaborate patient care with primary care providers, and find this to be extremely beneficial to the treatment process.

TREATMENTS INCLUDE:
Medication Management (*solely)
Medication Management (with therapy)
*Sole medication management from TFCPC is only offered to patients who are currently in therapy with another provider or who have been referred to us by an outside therapist.   We do not believe patients can achieve true freedom when medication is prescribed without therapy, and we do not engage in this practice*

Spirit

Unresolved emotional pain occurs in the soul.  When left unaddressed it often goes on to cause more challenges and difficulties in life.  In addition, most people with psychiatric disorders also have unaddressed wounds in their soul.  But, by feeding on the redemptive power of God's Word and Truth in The Holy Bible, the process of healing those wounds and restoring the soul occurs.

The Fort Christian Psychiatric Center purposefully uses the patient's personal relationship with Jesus Christ as the foundation for treatment, because including  a patient's personal relationship with God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit is scientifically proven to be protective and effective.  We build on that knowledge by relying on Scriptures and Christian principles from The Holy Bible in therapy.  This reminds patients how to access the peace, hope, joy, power and victory available to them (from God) during the treatment process.

The mind/soul, body and spirit are interconnected-- each area affecting the other.  Our spirit is the most important part of our being.  Including the spirit in the treatment process allows for a deeper and more sustainable level of healing and wellness...REDEMPTION!

The Prayer of Salvation
The Bible says, "But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8  That's the gift of salvation—the greatest gift of all!
How do we receive this gift? Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." When we surrender our lives to Him, the result is peace, freedom from condemnation, joy, hope, and connection with God for eternity!

If you've never accepted the love and forgiveness that Jesus has to offer, there's no better time than now. I'm not talking about becoming religious and trying to be good enough; I'm talking about having a relationship with the Creator of the universe through His Son, Jesus Christ. It's so simple.
Just pray this prayer from your heart:
"
Dear Jesus, I know I'm a sinner and I need a savior. I believe You are the Son of God, that You died, paying the price for my sins, and rose again. I ask You to come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior."
